Rome Exhibitions..Munch And Banksy/Warhol

It's been sometime since a post, but I'm trying to get back in the groove!

When we arrived in Rome back in early March, we took note of a couple of exhibitions that looked more than interesting.

We decided it would behoove us to return for an overnight trip to take in the art...So we did.

Johnny was especially interested in the Edvard Munch show at Palazzo Bonaparte...

There were several figurative works, self portraits, as well as landscapes and some really dreamy pieces...

An older self portrait.

Self Portrait...

A sketchy piece of the Rialto Bridge in Venice...

Wonderful movement here...

Abstract waves on a beach...

Look at the two below, and you see the influence in each...the background is the same.

An interesting, but rather dark piece.

A former lover that is seen in several works here.

This piece must have been the influence for
a Grateful Dead poster...

Johnny taking it in.

I love this one...

This is just a small example of the many pieces in this very engaging show...It's worth the time and energy to see it, if you are in Rome.
More info at the end of this post...

On an entirely different note, we were happy to see this Banksy/ Warhol exhibit ...

The concept was kind of comparing the two iconic artists in one show...

Classic, signed by Warhol

Banksy piece throwing flowers at Warhol's piece...
You get the picture!

Another great combo.

Warhol does Haring...

My favorite piece in the show, of course...
Thanks, Banksy!

There were many, many more pieces to see, and the capper was the outside area featuring 3 chunks of wall works by Banksy...too bad they were only seen through the large glass windows from inside. Also, they were each incased in a clear, protective box.
Still, very cool to see!

I couldn't help myself...

Both exhibitions are still going on, if you find yourself in Rome.
